Description: Also known as Bearberry this perennial herb grows to a height of twelve to thirty inches. The compound leaves are coarsely toothed and three to eight inches in length. Clusters of white flowers are produced during late spring and early summer, followed by conspicuous clusters of red berries later in the summer.

Habitat: This plant grows in western North America from southern California to Alaska. It grows in moist or shady places below 10,000 feet in elevation, most often in Redwood, Yellow Pine, Red Fir, Lodgepole, Subalpine, or Mixed Evergreen Forest plant communities.

Flowering Season: Flowers form from May to July.

Comments: All parts of this plant are toxic.
