Habitat: Bear poppy is relatively rare and is found growing between 2000 and 5500 feet in the Mojave Desert and into southern Nevada. Flowering Season: Flowers form during April and May. Comments: The name for this genus is derived from the Greek words arktos (meaning bear) and mecon (meaning poppy).
