Combbur

Pectocarya recurvata

Boraginaceae (Borage Family)

Description: This small annual is sometimes also called Curvenut Combseed. This plant may reach a height of eight inches. It has tiny white f lowers and seed pods that are toothed in such a way that they look a little bit like combs, hence the name.

Habitat: Combbur is found throughout the desert southwest below 6000 feet in elevation.

Flowering Season: Flowers form from March to May.

Comments: This plant is often quite abundant, but it often goes unnoticed due to it's small size. Close inspection reveals that the plant bears very odd fruits!
