Broadleaf PlantainPlantago major Description: Also known as Greater Plantain, this perennial herb grows to a mature height of up to about ten inches. The leaves are broad, with five to seven prominent parallel veins, and up to seven inches long. Inconspicuous flowers form in dense clusters on flower stalk. Habitat: This plant tends to grow in moist places below 7200 feet. This plant is not native to North America. Flowering Season: Flowers form from April to September. Comments: Native Americans called this plant White Man's Footprint. It is believed that it was originally brought to North America by English Colonists. |
