Description: Depending on the environment, Sulphur Flower Buckwheat (or sometimes Sulfur spelled with an F) may be from a few inches to a few feet tall. It has yellow flowers composed of six tiny petal-like sepals. These flowers may become pink or red with age. The leaves often contain matted, gray hairs.

Habitat: Sulphur Flower grows at altitudes above 4500 feet in Sagebrush Steppe, Forest, and Alpine environments.

Flowering Season: Sulphur Flower Buckwheat can be found in bloom from May through August.

Comments: There are several subspecies and varieties including, but not limited to argus, chlorothamnus, covillei, furcosum, lautum, modocense, nevadense, and versicolor.
